The industrial revolution 2.0 was a leap forward in the already technologically advanced world. Many witnessed the origin of new innovations and creativity in the U.K., that it had surfaced as one of the prominent flag bearers of development and industrialisation. From the toothbrush that we use on an everyday basis to the very browser through which you are reading this now, all took birth in the U.K.!
The U.K. has emerged as one of the liveliest countries with the ever buzzing impeccable metro stations, the iconic red double-decker buses decked with tourists, and a place brimming with a never-ending fascination for art, broadway, and Shakespeare! Do you know the U.K. is also one of the top study destinations, with 7,00,000 international students sending in applications every year? As of 2019, the country wields an impressive international student population of 4,85,645.
1. High Standard of Education
The education provided by the universities in the U.K. is quintessential and is recognised by all educational institutions and organisations worldwide. Often it is reflected in the kind of prestigious graduates the country has produced over the years like Isaac Newton and Alexander Graham Bell. The U.K., as a country, is blessed with a rich history and heritage, and its historical universities add more beauty to it. Their most prestigious and historical universities being the Oxford and Cambridge Universities, both of which are more than 80 years old.
2. A Myriad of Course Options
The U.K. universities and colleges offer an abundance of courses specialising in MBA, arts, medicine, science, technology and engineering, mathematics and the list goes on! This creates a space for almost every international student to explore and experiment with their choices, as the U.K. education knows no bounds! The availability of fast-track courses has enabled the students in the subsequent completion of courses. By making the most out of it, some students even obtain their master’s degree while pursuing a bachelor’s. It is a very lucrative choice as it costs much less and all of this is achievable within a short period.
3. Part-time and Post-study Work Permit
In the U.K., international students often take up part-time jobs, internships, or volunteering while pursuing their degrees. It is either to support themselves financially or to gain experience in their field of interest, which in return would be added to their CVs. The newly introduced post-study work visa in Graduate Immigration Route enables the students to work in the U.K. for 2 whole years after their graduation. This visa applies to all international students, including undergraduates, postgraduates, and PhD graduates, who had enrolled in the U.K. Universities from September 2020. Do take note that the post-study work visa doesn’t interfere with the work taken up by the students during their studies.
4. Job Stability and High Employment Opportunities
A market analysis conducted by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development has revealed that the employment opportunities have been stable for the past 20 years in the U.K. There is more job security in the U.K. than in any other country citing the plethora of permanent jobs available in comparison to non-permanent jobs. Some of the prestigious and top-ranked U.K. universities have tie-ups with many esteemed and reputed organizations, who offer job placements for the many young-minded international students.
- De Montfort Universities provide opportunities for their students to earn while they learn, by advertising job vacancies on Unitemps, a campus-based and university-run recruitment agency. Paid work is offered both inside the university and in the Leicester area, ranging from part-time work to full-time position for a time bound period.
- The UWE (University of West England) Bristol has close links with CERN, Rolls Royce, NHS, Aardman Animation, BBC and many more, which will expose its students to the professional world while they pursue their bachelors.
Study Abroad is Impossible because of COVID-19? YOU’RE WRONG.
With the ongoing pandemic, the U.K. government has made the generous decision of accepting applications and also to conduct online classes while they wait for their students’ visas. This way, overseas students will not have to suffer from not attaining their dream education. Several changes were incorporated to ensure that the students get to fulfil their dreams by studying in their preferred study destinations. And if you are one of those students who are still confused or uncertain about the process, then worry no more!
