Why Not New Zealand?
Often when people think of studying abroad, Australia, UK, US and Canada come to their minds. But why not New Zealand? Let me share with you some of their well-kept secrets that you and your parents must know.
What You Don’t Know
When it comes to choices of universities, there are only 8 to consider; when it comes to quality and consistency, all 8 of them are in world top 450 universities rankings! Unlike the other 4 destinations, New Zealand doesn’t mass create universities. They want each university to cultivate its teaching and research strengths in order to provide the best education quality for students.
What You and Your Parents Should Know About the Most Popular Degree
When it comes to choosing a good business school in terms of brand, employer and teaching recognition in the 2 biggest continents – US and Europe, 4 out of the 8 NZ universities (University of Auckland, Victoria University of Wellington, University of Canterbury and University of Waikato) have achieved the renowned Triple Crown business school standards and that is way beyond the ratio of any the 4 study destinations.
What Do They Excel in Teaching?
These job demands will be growing in Malaysia in the next decade and many of the NZ universities specialize in these fields of teaching: –
- Health Science
- Cyber Security
- Logistic and Supply chain Management
Here are a few examples that you should know!
University of Auckland has the largest and fastest wind tunnel in New Zealand (Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel), designed for experimental investigations of the aerodynamics of a wide range of objects such as buildings, towers, wings, and roofs. Education (#27 in the world – QS Subject Rankings, 2020) and Health Sciences courses are also Uni Auckland expertise.
Victoria University of Wellington is located in the hub of major design studios such as WETA digital which handles the visual effects for big movie production like Avengers: Endgame and the whole world goes “I LOVE YOU 3000!”
Well-known for its capstone program like architectural and landscape architecture programs, Lincoln University owns 10 farms in the South Island of NZ. Also, it is the only partner member of the Euroleague for Life Sciences (ELLS) in Oceania.
When you listen to the way NZ university representatives staff talk, you will realise they want you to succeed and also have the most memorable time of your educational journey at their institution. So, it is not surprising that many of its institutional teaching and administration staff do not job hop. They are often loyal to their place of work and truly dedicated to their professions. Hence, most of them are very knowledgeable in what they deliver to students.
What You and Your Parents Must Know
Often, many families and students consider overseas education an expensive hurdle but in the case of New Zealand, the fees are a very reasonable wise investment when compared to the other 4 destinations.
Generous scholarships for international students are available at hand to help. Find out more here >>>
As a student, to supplement your income, you are allowed to work 20 hours a week and during holidays, unlimited hours. *ka-ching ka-ching* how bout dah!
What You Already Know…Well, At Least Some of It…
You probably have watched blockbusters such as Lord of the Rings Trilogy and would agree with me that the country is truly blessed with unbelievable scenic beauty. Believe me, every corner of New Zealand is postcard pretty. There is just so much to see and experience. Did I also mention that the air is clean and fresh? Oh! And most importantly the people I met there are truly approachable and kind. Not because you are just another international student but they know you have made a big decision to choose their country’s education over others, they want you to know that they appreciate it immensely, and it will definitely show. (I have been working in the education industry for over 30 years and have yet to hear international students being targets of racial slurs.)
Their international office staff are also the most hardworking and genuine people that I know. They don’t oversell their institutions. They do their jobs well because they are proud of their work and wish to share all it has to offer, with you. Seldom, a place and the people work out well for some educational experience magic. But New Zealand? It is like a calling reaching out to you: New Zealand, you ought to be there!
