Key Courses

Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Biology + Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
As the only Veterinary Science course in WA, this highly-accredited course will give you the skills, experience and qualifications you need to solve the existing and emerging problems of our companion animals, livestock and wildlife. A science-based approach and hands-on experience will prepare you for the highest standard of work in the veterinary industry.
You’ll learn real-world skills in general practice and emergency areas in state-of-the-art facilities including veterinary teaching hospitals, clinics and working farm, all located at the Murdoch University South Street campus. As part of your degree, you could complete placements with the RSPCA, Perth Zoo and a wide range of farms and veterinary practices.
To become a qualified vet, you’ll need to complete a 3 year Bachelor of Science (Veterinary Biology) which progresses into an integrated DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine). You could complete your full qualification over 12 semesters, or 5 calendar years.
When you graduate, you will be qualified to register immediately and practise as a vet in Australia and other countries including New Zealand, UK, Europe, Singapore, Malaysia and North America.

Bachelor of Science in Animal Science
In this course you’ll learn how to meet the increasing demand for wholesome and safe food produced from companies with humane and sustainable production practices.
You’ll learn about exciting developments in animal management, disease control, improved welfare and new molecular technologies. You’ll explore how new DNA technologies are transforming our traditional food and fibre production systems and get an in-depth understanding of animal production.
Murdoch University is the only city-based university in Australia with an animal production property. This means you’ll have easy access to animals for your practical sessions.
As part of your degree, you’ll take on a total of eight weeks industry experience across three or more industries. You’ll tour WA’s South Western Region for a week during your third year and have the opportunity to travel to the eastern states of Australia to compete at the Intercollegiate Meat Judging program and/or at the National Merino Challenge.
You can combine this course with other majors to expand your career prospects even further. Adding a Crop and Pasture Science major will expand your knowledge in the fields of animal production and crops and pastures, creating a well-rounded agriculture degree.

This course is eligible for professional membership with Australian Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology (AIAST) .

Bachelor of Science in Chiropractic Science + Bachelor of Clinical Chiropractic (BClinChiro)
This is the only fully accredited chiropractic course in WA. You’ll learn to become a healthcare professional with the skills to diagnose, treat and prevent pain and disability of the spine and musculoskeletal system.
In Chiropractic Science, you’ll learn how to recognise the signs and symptoms of various disorders including joint and muscle abnormalities and related pain syndromes. This course has a well-rounded scientific base combined with the clinical skills required, so you are graduate ready to work.
You’ll gain hands-on experience in your final years by working with real patients in our state-of-the-art chiropractic and rehabilitation clinic. If you’d like to run your own practice in the future, the course includes a Professional Practice Management unit to help you develop life-long business skills, including how to run a budget, manage inventory and finance.
This course is a double Bachelor’s degree. First, you will complete a Bachelor of Science, preparing you in the human biological sciences and introductory chiropractic units, over three years. You will then progress onto the second degree, the Bachelor of Clinical Chiropractic, which takes two more years. You need to complete both degrees to be eligible for registration and clinical practice.
